History Of Motorcycle Week:
The Motorcycle Riders Association WA first started this annual event in 1984, back then it was known as Motorcycle Awareness Ride and was focused on making other road users more aware of riders on the road. Over the years the event has gone through many changes and in 2010 it was decided to change the name to Motorcycle Safety Week with the focus being on rider safety through awareness of both riders and drivers on our road.
We started what is the current version of Motorcycle Safety Week in 2010 with a week of activities starting at the Toodyay Motorcycle Festival, later to become the York Motorcycle Festival that has been the launce of our Motorcycle Safety Week since then.
We introduced the Motorcycle Safety Forums in 2014 and have held a Forum every two years since then, to help give riders a voice in their own safety on the our WA roads, these forums have presentations and representatives from all the relevant Government agencies and riders are encouraged to raise there concerns and ideas at these forums.
